Rockers roast Ducks

Rockers roast Ducks

Rockers roast Ducks

May 21, 2026 by Steve Shutt

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point Rockers offense exploded for season high 14 runs to power the Rockers over the Long Island Ducks 14-8 Wednesday night at Truist Point.

The victory snapped a six-game skid for the Rockers and evened the six-game series at one game apiece.

The win moves the Rockers to 12-14 for the year while the Ducks drop to 13-13.

High Point plated five runs in the third inning and followed it up with a six-run sixth frame, powering the Rockers past the Ducks in a much needed victory. Eight Rockers starters reached base safely including three RBI’s and a pair of hits for both Alex Dickerson and Max Viera.

What had been a fairly quiet Rockers offense wasted no time getting on the board Tuesday night, plating a pair of runs in the opening frame. Making his first start in the leadoff spot, Patrick Sanchez immediately set the tone with a base hit to open the game and later came around to score on an RBI single from Dickerson.

Moments later, Ethan Skender reached with a single of his own and eventually crossed the plate on Viera’s fielder’s choice to give High Point an early 2–0 advantage.

The Ducks answered almost immediately, erupting for a five-run third inning to storm in front 5-2. Long Island sent 10 hitters to the plate in the inning, with five different Ducks driving in runs, four of which were consecutive.

Sanchez followed up his lead-off single in the first with a line drive RBI double off the wall  in the second that drove in Anthony Servideo from second to pull High Point back within a pair at 5-3.

Yuhi Sako got the start for the Rockers and worked into trouble early, surrendering six runs across the opening four innings. The right-hander managed to settle in as the outing progressed, finishing with six strikeouts over four innings of work.

Ryan Chasse (W, 2-1) pitched the fifth and sixth innings to earn the win, holding the Ducks to two hits while fanning three.

Dickerson was granted a free pass to lead off the third inning that later proved to be the catalyst of an explosive frame. He was followed up by an RBI triple from Max Viera that scored Dickerson from first to pull back within one.

Ducks starter Michael Dominguez (L, 0-2) then lost the zone, issuing three walks after the Viera triple, allowing the tying run to come home. With the bases loaded and momentum fully swinging toward High Point, Long Island manager Lew Ford turned to Tanner Jacobson out of the bullpen in a difficult spot. Dominguez was tagged with the loss by product of his eight earned runs.

Troy Schreffler wasted no time making the move hurt, driving a bases clearing triple into right field to cap off a huge five run third inning for the Rockers.

Jacob Robson clubbed his eighth homer of the season in the fourth frame.

After Sanchez and Schreffler both reached on defensive miscues, Dickerson stepped into another prime RBI opportunity and delivered once again sixth, lining a two RBI single to stretch the Rockers lead to four. Moments later, Max Viera added on with a run scoring fielder’s choice to keep the inning rolling.

High Point was far from finished in the sixth. Braxton Davidson stepped to the plate and demolished a towering two run homer deep beyond the Truist Point sign in center field, his sixth homer of the year.

The offensive breakout continued moments later when Anthony Servideo launched his first home run of the season, pushing the Rockers lead to eight as the slugfest rolled on for the home side.

Game three of this six-game set is slated for 6:35 on Thursday at Truist Point. Rockers will send Matt Colucci (1-0)  to the hill opposed by Long Island’s Ryan Sandberg (2-3). Rocker fans can follow the action live on HomeTeamLive.com (DugoutTV) or the audio broadcast on the free app MixLR.

Rockers drop opener to Ducks

Rockers drop opener to Ducks

HIGH POINT, N.C – The Long Island Ducks scored a single run in five consecutive innings and held on to beat the High Point Rockers 5-4 on Tuesday night at Truist Point.

The Rockers have now lost six straight to fall to 11-14 on the season. The Ducks improved to 13-12 with the win.

Long Island starter Harrison Francis (W) improved to 4–0 on the season after grinding through five innings of work on the mound. The right-hander allowed three runs on five hits while working around five walks and struck out six to keep the Ducks in front before handing the game over to the bullpen.

Long Island scored a single run in each inning between the second and sixth innings, taking a 3-0 lead in the fourth before the Rockers got on the scoreboard with three runs in the fourth.

Alex Dickerson and Ethan Skender both had solid days at the dish. Dickerson reached base safely four times, and Skender was the only Rocker to collect multiple hits with his pair of knocks.

Former big leaguer Wilmer Difo produced the game’s first run in the second inning, driving one in on a fielder’s choice to hand the Ducks an early 1–0 advantage.

Long Island kept the pressure on later in the frame after Jacob Robson doubled and Gavin Collins reached on a single to open the inning. Marcus Chiu followed with an RBI base hit to right field, plating Robson and stretching the Ducks lead to 2–0.

Chris Roller opened the fourth inning with a double and later came around to score when Alsander Womack lined an RBI single, extending the Long Island advantage to 3–0.

The Rockers answered in the home half of the frame, and it was Bryson Parks using his speed to spark the rally. Known for covering ground in the outfield, Parks legged out an RBI infield single that brought Alex Dickerson home from third to put High Point on the board.

Moments later, Anthony Servideo snapped an 0 for 24 skid in a big way, lining one down the right field line that plated Parks from third and cut the deficit to one.

With Servideo standing on first and Patrick Sanchez at third, Servideo took off for second, and an errant throw from Ducks catcher Hernandez skipped away, allowing Sanchez to race home and tie the game at three apiece.

The tie game was short lived, as the Ducks answered immediately in the next half inning with their fourth consecutive one run frame. Anthony Garcia came through with a go ahead RBI double in the fifth, allowing Long Island to reclaim a 4–3 lead.

Long Island continued its streak of one run innings into the sixth, capitalizing on a Rockers miscue when Collins reached on an error that allowed Roller to score and extend the Ducks lead 5-3.

Following three consecutive walks, the Rockers were able to claw back within one in the sixth when a wild pitch allowed Parks to come home and score as the Rockers trailed 5-4.

Fin Del Bonta-Smith made the start for the Rockers and battled through five innings on the mound, surrendering a run in four of his five frames of work. The right hander allowed four runs on nine hits while striking out three. Del Bonta-Smith would be tagged with the loss as he falls to 0-3 on the season.

Game two of this six-game set is slated to start at 6:35 pm Wednesday at Truist Point. Rockers will send righty Yuhi Sako (1-3) to the hill opposed by Long Island’s Michael Dominguez (0-1). HIGH POINT, N.C. – Four High Point Rockers pitchers combined to shutout the York Revolution 4-0 on Saturday night at Truist Point as the Rockers took a 3-2 lead in the six game series.

Right-hander Matt Colucci (W, 1-0), making his first start after being signed by the Rockers earlier in the day, tossed five shutout innings, allowing four hits struck out three without allowing a walk.

Righty Daniel Blair cruised through the sixth and seventh innings for the Rockers, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out two. Alec Barger allowed one hit in a scoreless eighth frame and Xander Hamilton put the Revs down in order in the ninth to preserve the win.

York starter Braden Scott didn’t allow the Rockers to collect a hit until Troy Schreffler doubled into the left field corner leading off the bottom of the fifth. Schreffler moved to third on D.J. Burt’s ground out to second and then came home on a sac fly to left from Patrick Sanchez.

Sanchez would later extend the Rockers lead to 2-0 when Luke Napleton doubled to start the seventh and scored on Sanchez’s RBI single.

Scott left after seven innings trailing 2-0 despite allowing just three hits and four walks while striking out 12.

The Rockers added to their lead in the eighth against reliever Shawn Rapp. With one out, Max Viera hit a ground rule double into the left field bullpen area before Alex Dickerson went the opposite way and slammed his first homer of the year to put High Point ahead 4-0.

HIGH POINT, NC- An explosive offensive performance from York powered the Revolution to a 11–2 victory over the Rockers Friday night in front of a crowd of 2,303 at Truist Point.

The Rockers were limited to just two runs on five hits in the ballgame, thanks in large part to a dominant outing from York starter Nick Mikolajchak. The right-hander carved through the High Point lineup across seven impressive innings, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out six in a commanding performance.

Yuhi Sako (L, 1-1) got the start for the Rockers and battled through five innings of work, allowing five runs on eight hits while working around traffic throughout the outing.

York broke the ice in a big way in the third inning, sending all nine batters to the plate in a massive offensive frame. Nick Dunn plated the game’s first run with a sacrifice fly before a Brian Rey double stretched the lead to 2–0.  Moments later, two of the league’s premier power bats delivered, as Jacob Teter and Brandon Lewis launched back-to-back home runs to extend the Revolution advantage. For Lewis, the homer was his fifth of the series so far.

Ethan Skender stayed hot at the dish, launching a solo home run into Blessing Park to account for High Point’s first run. The blast extended Skender’s consecutive games with an RBI streak to six. He had two hits on the night,

The Revolution erupted again in the seventh inning with a four -un frame that put the game out of reach. York’s pitching staff was stellar all night, compared to the Rockers offense which struggled, only tallying five hits.

Six of York’s nine starters recorded an RBI in the offensive outburst, highlighted by Mike Rosario’s best performance of the season as he went 4 for 5 with two RBIs. Teter and Lewis added to the attack, each collecting three hits.

The Rockers did not go quietly, stringing together a handful of late hits and pushing across a run in the ninth on a Patrick Sanchez pinch single.

High Point falls to 9-7 as York improves to 7-9. Game five of this six-game set is slated to start at 6:35 pm, Saturday at Truist Point. Rockers will send the newcomer, righty Matt Colucci (0-0) to the mound to face off against York’s southpaw Braden Scott (2-1). Rockers lose lead, regain, win

Rockers lose lead, regain, win

May 8, 2026 by Steve Shutt

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point Rockers lost a 3-0 lead in the ninth inning but rallied back to defeat the York Revolution in 10 innings, 5-4 Thursday night at Truist Point.

The Rockers were cruising on an outstanding pitching performance from starter Fin Del Bonta-Smith who threw seven innings of one-hit baseball with a career-high strikeouts. But the Revs rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth, two of them coming on game-tying homer from Mike Rosario.

After York scored a single run in the 10th to go-ahead 4-3, the Rockers scored twice in the bottom of the 10th for the victory. With Patrick Sanchez starting the inning on second, Braxton Davidson struck out but the ball squirted away from catcher Austin Bates and Davidson was safe at first with Sanchez advancing to third. Ethan Skender then cleared the bases with a triple to seal the win for the Rockers.

Del Bonta-Smith delivered one of the finest outings of his professional career, striking out a career high nine batters across seven dominant innings of one-hit, scoreless baseball. This was the right-hander’s second scoreless start of the young season. Despite the stellar outing, it would end up as a no-decision.

What was a classic pitchers duel stayed scoreless until the sixth frame when Davidson finally broke the scoreless deadlock, launching his fourth home run of the season over the right field wall to give the Rockers a 1–0 lead.

High Point kept the pressure on in the sixth following Davidson’s go ahead blast. Skender worked a walk and later moved into scoring position on a wild pitch, setting the stage for D.J. Burt, who came through with an RBI knock to bring Skender home from second and extend the Rockers lead to 2–0.

Catcher Chris Brady made his 2026 debut for the Rockers and wasted no time making an impact, ripping an RBI double to score Skender from second and provide the Rockers with late inning insurance at 3–0. Brady finished with a multi-hit performance and reached base safely three times in an impressive debut.

Zach Vennaro ran into trouble in the ninth while navigating the heart of the York order, as Jacob Teter and Brian Rey opened the frame with back to back singles. A Nick Dunn sacrifice fly brought the tying run to the plate, and Rosario crushed a game-tying two-run homer off the bottom of the scoreboard to even things at 3-3 in the ninth.

For the second consecutive night, these two clubs needed extra innings. A fielder’s choice moved ghost runner Devonte Brown over to third, setting the table for Josh Day in a prime sacrifice situation, and he executed perfectly, lifting a deep fly ball to right that allowed Brown to tag and score, giving York a 4–3 lead.

Skender continued his hot stretch at the plate, reaching base safely in all five of his trips, including a three hit performance. Skender has driven in a run in each of his last five games (11 RBI in that stretch).

High Point improves to 9-6 as York falls to the inverse, 6-9.  Game four of this six-game set is slated to start at 6:35 pm, Friday at Truist Point. Rockers will send righty Yuhi Sako (1-0) to the mound to face off against York’s Braden Scott (2-1). Rocker fans can follow the action live on HomeTeamLive.com (DugoutTV) or the audio broadcast on the free app MixLR.
