HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point Rockers were held to just six hits and dropped the series opener to the Lexington Legends 3-0 on Tuesday night at Truist Point.

The loss drops the Rockers to 19-27 in the second half and 48-61 for the season. Lexington continues to lead the Atlantic League’s South Division at 29-17 and 54-55.

High Point starter Sam Ryan (L, 1-4) kept the Legends off the scoreboard until leftfielder P.J. Hilson hit a solo homer leading off the fourth inning. The Legends would add another run in the fifth on a walk to Damiano Palmegiani and an RBI single from Xane Washington.

Lexington took a 3-0 lead when the Legends’ Brenden Dixon tagged Rockers reliever Ryan Chasse for a solo homer in the ninth.

The Rockers threatened in the later innings, leaving two men on in both the seventh and eighth innings. The Rockers put two aboard to start the ninth but hit into a double play and were unable to score.

Lexington starter Jack Lynch (W, 2-3) claimed the win with seven innings of shutout pitching, allowing three hits and four walks while striking out nine.

Wednesday’s game two of the six-game series will start at 6:35 p.m. at Truist Point. The Rockers will send RHP Justin Dunn (0-1, 18.00) to the mound, opposed by Lexington RHP Caden Spivey (4-1, 6.85).
